Slade Roberson at Shift Your Spirits recently wrote a post (with same photo) called “Please, You Must Be Eccentric” and it got me thinking. What would it feel like to have no inhibitions and, just for fun, let go, let it rip and totally set our imaginations free?

What would be the first thing you’d do ― dance around, shout for joy, sing, laugh, take off for Paris, get married????? The imaginations are endless when we just let go of the what-if’s!

We catch the joy and spontaneity of that release when we see a baby laugh and before we know it we’re laughing too right along with them. It’s pure happiness ― no holding back, no looking around to see if someone is looking.

My grandmother was like that, uninhibited and comfortable with herself, and I think it’s what I love most about her. When I was with her I felt anything was possible even ghosts. When she laughed she’d let it rip so that her body shook and tears streamed down her face.

When you called to her to see where she was, she’d let out a “whoooooeeee” from somewhere upstairs. She’d play, cry, laugh and pray with her whole being and I felt no holding back in love when she wrapped her arms around me. I don’t think I’ve ever quite met another person like her.

What does it take for us to be that real and comfortable with ourselves? Slade in his post talks about being authentic, taking a chance, letting yourself shine maybe even a little insane ― being all you truly came here to be.

What does this look like for you?
