Hi everyone — I’m honored to be Susan Cooper’s guest over at “Finding Our Way Now” with my contribution of Sweet Days of Summer: #Story. It was taken from my free e-book and begins like this:

Here’s a little story I wrote back in 2012, in reflection, as the sweet days of summer wound down and cooler nights were soon to come.

It had been a rough year having come through the loss of my mother-in-law, not to mention an outsourced job along with catastrophic statewide news. I guess you could say my heart wanted to feel happy and safe. What better way than to recapture some childhood moments.

I hope you’ll drop by Susan’s site, leave a comment and share the love.

Thank You!

    • You’re truly welcome, Susan. I’ve never done anything quite like this before except for an occasional guest post here and there. I’m having the time of my life. Thank you again for the opportunity to share my kitchen table stories with your readers. I hope they enjoy it. πŸ™‚

  1. I love this story Pat. It is so nostalgic. I especially enjoyed the ants in the pudding. It reminded me of the way I felt at 7 when I was riding my bike and bug flew up my nose. I could have sworn after my Dad made me blow it out that it was still wiggling around in there for a week and I ran around blowing my nose all the time just to be sure. I was reminded of my Mom’s call to come home when it was getting dark as well. Instead of whooooheee she had a large bell she rang that could be heard all over the block. Thanks for sharing your memories, Pat. It is so much fun to remember our childhoods and dream of those days again. πŸ™‚

    • Haha — I laughed out loud, Andy, when I read about a bug flying up your nose (chuckle) as I remember that happening to me, too. It’s unnerving and can picture you going around blowing your nose (did that, too). Fun times and good memories — what imaginations we had! I can almost picture your Mom ringing that large bell, too. Instead of calling us in at night, like your mother did, we had to go in when the street lights came on. Different times — different places — it’s all one big fantasy world, isn’t it, when you’re a kid.

Thanks for sharing your childhood memories with me. I loved it. πŸ™‚

    • Hi Joanne — I’m so glad you went over to Susan’s site and read my story. Happy you enjoyed it, too — means a lot you took the time to comment. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, Andrea. I’m happy you enjoyed it and reminded you of lazy, carefree summer days when you were a child. For me, they were the best times. πŸ™‚
