Thank you, thank you, thank you ― I’m truly grateful. I can’t believe this! What an honor and privilege to be nominated for the 7-In-One Award by my friend and fellow blogger, Sherri Matthews at “A View From My Summerhouse”.

Sherri and I have gotten to know one another over the months through our sites blogging about our families, home, life’s blessings and challenges. She not only tells her stories through writing but walks you through her wonderful world in England with a glimpse here and there in her photos. It’s her view of the world from her summerhouse.

This award is new to me and is composed of 7 awards in one, all colorful and given with purpose and meaning. Wow! I’m humbled and deeply thankful to Sherri, from the bottom of my heart.

Like many of my fellow bloggers, I write with the hope of making you laugh or touch your heart by inviting you into my world to connect through a familiar tale or two. I only see the happy faces of those that stop by to read and leave their thoughts. So, to them and everyone who comes by, I thank you. This award truly serves as inspiration to know you’re out there.

Here are the rules for the Seven Awards:
1. Display the logo on your sidebar
2. Link back to the person who nominated you
3. State 7 things about yourself
4. Nominate 15 (or so) bloggers for this award
5. Notify the nominees of their nominations

7 Things About Me
I’ll try to name some things I haven’t listed before.

  • I live at an elevation of 8,500’ above sea level in the Rocky Mountains.
  • I had a pet rooster, Goldie, as a kid. Got him as a chick one Easter.
  • I was born in the US ― grew up in the North (Philly area) and loved being with my grandparents in the South (Virginia) ― now, I’m in the West (Colorado).
  • I don’t like bugs and have to get hubby to get rid of them and put them outside.
  • I never traveled abroad or been on a cruise ship.
  • My grandmother had an uncle with a peg leg and a monkey.
  • No formal training in writing or the internet ― just jump in and learn as I go.

Nominees
Now, it’s onto the fun paying it forward and sharing my fellow-blogger nominees, some I’ve only known for a short time. They inspire me, I learn new things and go on their journeys each time I open one of their posts. I hope you will check them out and enjoy them as much as I do:

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!

Thank you, everyone, for your friendship, knowledge, comments and taking the time to come to my site and sit at my kitchen table. I love that you stop by to connect sharing your stories with me and your warm energy.

    • You’re welcome, Susan. Boy, you’re fast. I haven’t got all the nominees notified yet. I’ll be sending you the link.

I was little when my grandmother’s uncle came to visit and remember him bumping down the back stairs on his peg leg. He had one of those monkeys with a suit that sat on your shoulder while grandmother’s uncle played an accordion.

He was kind of scary to me with his peg leg. Made me think of pirate ships. Arghh! 🙂

        • Hi Susan and thank you for considering me for this. I saw this post of yours about the blog hop writing process and it did sound interesting. Is there a timeframe on completing it? I’ve been in a bit of a writing lull here lately and haven’t written anything for awhile. It’s taking a little bit for me to get inspired and back on track with writing. My mind has been elsewhere with hubby having surgery and in the hospital. He’s back home now and doing well. 🙂

          • I’ve been worried about you, but figured you were busy with your hubby and didn’t want to bother you.

The time frame for the Writing Process Blog Hop is at your discretion, so no worry’s there. It’s pretty easy if you follow my format. Mary would be thrilled if you would be part of hers. She is such a sweet girl. I know you’d like her. Her email address is: alongcomesmary26@gmail.com. If you’re willing I’ll give her a heads up to expect to hear from you. 🙂

          • Thanks Susan. Things are much better now and hubby is doing well. I appreciate your concern.

On the Writing Process Blog Hop, I would be interested in taking part and connecting with Mary. I can’t promise a post too soon to acknowledge participation, though. I wanted to get something written first for my site but been having a hard time getting a jump start. I guess that’s what happens when you step away for a bit.

I think I understand the process: you first write a bio on the one who invites you (which for me would be Mary Lansing), then answer the 4 questions about writing and then invite 3 other bloggers to participate? I checked out Mary’s blog and it looks like she has a lot of things going on and loves to write. It would be fun to get to know her. 🙂

  1. Pat, you have the most encouraging and inspiring blog I know of. You have greatly blessed me with your writings and I am so glad we crossed paths. Congratulations for being nominated for the 7 in one blog! You very well deserve this honor. Also, thank you for putting my Italy blog on your list. You sweet thing, you!

    • Thank you, Susan, it’s an honor and you’re truly welcome. I can’t think of a better nominee than you. I love your site — it’s an adventure every time I stop by. 🙂

        • We seem to be talking more with each other these days, Susan. I like that. 🙂

You’re truly welcome on the award and I’m happy to let others know about your wonderful site and the information and stories you put out in the world. It’s truly wonderful and if anyone loves to get away now and then for a diversion, your site is the place to go. I’m glad our paths have crossed, as well. I love it.

  2. Many congratulations once again Pat, you deserve these awards and more! It is a pleasure to share my blogging journey and stories with you. Coming over to your site is like stopping by to visit with a friend for some real fellowship. Wonderful.

I loved reading more facts about you too (I didn’t share as I was just too tired to think of anything after doing all those award’s posts!) and especially the one about your relative with a peg leg and a monkey, that really did bring a smile! Sounds fascinating!

Thanks so much for all the lovely things you said about my blog, it means so much. All blessings to you my dear friend and have a great day over there in the Rocky’s. It’s sunny and blue skies here again today and it’s been a much better week storm wise, although it is getting colder but then this what it is supposed to be in February
    right? 🙂

    • You’re welcome, Sherri, and I love that we’re connected. I enjoy exchanging our worlds and lives with one another. It’s refreshing and makes the world seem to turn a bit easier.

Funny about my grandmother’s uncle. I only remember a couple of things, because I was so little, and that was the sound of him clomping down the wooden back stairs, one at a time, on his peg leg. I remember looking at his leg, too, and it was a peg, like the pirates, which put a little fear in me. Also, he would dress up his little monkey in a suit and carried a box on a pole with him (his monkey would sit on his shoulder). Don’t remember if the box was an accordion or not. Crazy, the little things that stay with you. Wish I knew more information about him.

I’m glad your weather is turning better and getting some warm sunshine. We’ve been getting high winds but at least the sun is shining here, too. Take care, my friend, and thank you again for the recognition for this award. Truly appreciated. 🙂

      • Ahh, how lovely of you Pat, bless you dear friend. The pleasure is all mine, and yes, very refreshing and uplifting indeed to share our worlds 🙂

Goodness, are you sure your grandmother’s uncle wasn’t a pirate? What a character he must have been, and I can quite imagine you being a little afraid of him! I was like that with my great-grandmother who used to wear real fox stoles around her neck and I hated seeing the little fox eyes staring at me from across the dining table…very unsettling for a little girl!

It’s been a bit windy again here and more rain but after what we’ve had it seems like nothing. Sunny yesterday again and positively spring like! Hope the winds have died down for you and that you are enjoying a lovely, relaxing weekend 🙂

        • It is uplifting, Sherri, in sharing our worlds. How different they seem to be, yet, similar, too.

Yes, it’s funny the things we remember, when we’re kids. I can just imagine how looking at the fox’s beady eyes on her fur stole would make you feel uncomfortable. Don’t have to be little, either, for it to be unsettling. I don’t know much about my grandmother’s uncle, what happened to his leg or where he got the monkey. I guess back in those days it was his way of making a living. Somewhere in the back of my mind I faintly remember someone saying something about a circus. I have an aunt I can check with — hopefully, she can fill in some of the blanks and it’s not some little kid’s wild imagination.

Still breezy here but sunny. Expecting some snow to come in, though, in the next couple of days. I’m glad the weather for you is more tolerable and a bit pleasant here and there. Won’t be long and spring will finally arrive. 🙂

          • What a story that could be! Let me know what more you find out,I’m fascinated now!

Hope you had a super weekend Pat, not too much snow, and looking forward to our chats this week my friend 🙂

          • Thanks Sherri for stopping back and I’ll check with my aunt. She’s in her 80’s and the only one I know that remembers that stuff, other than my cousins. Talk with you again, soon. 🙂

  3. Pat, I honored that you have chosen me as a potential award. I hope my work is good enough. I really write for the shear joy of it. I too have had no formal training, but I will always write. The only problem is I don’t think I know 15 bloggers to nominate. I am relatively new at this, if that is going to be a problem please let me know.

Love your description of yourself, an uncle with a peg leg? Wow! I have a cousin with a wooden arm from Germany, and I thought that was interesting, but you have topped that.
Thank you again. I am so glad we met and I do look forward to more. :o)

    • You’re truly welcome, Patricia. I enjoy your stories and I’m delighted to share you with my readers. They’re in for a treat, especially your dream story, “The Little Shoe in the Snow” (http://salpa58.wordpress.com/2014/02/18/319/). I found it very intriguing and fascinating.

No problems on being new to awards and the # of bloggers to nominate. I run into that problem, too. I would just do what you feel you want to and whatever that is will all be perfect, my friend. I’m glad for the opportunity to be a first-time award nominator and happy to let others know about you and your writing. Let me know if you have any questions on the award. I’d be happy to help.

That’s interesting about your cousin’s wooden arm. I bet you’d have a story about that. I guess it was back in the days before prosthetics, when they had nothing else to use but wooden arms and peg legs. It seemed to work. I don’t remember much about my grandmother’s uncle, because I was little, but what I remember seemed to stay with me. I’ll have to see if I can get more information about him. Talking about this has stirred up the juices of curiosity to want to know more.

    • So welcome, April, on this award and happy that you were pleased. I’m glad to honor you on this award and share your work with my readers, especially your heart’s calling in remembering those who fell victims to the holocaust.

There was a documentary by Frank Capra I saw the end of last year on WWII, in honor of Pearl Harbor Day, that stuck with me. I talked about in a post called, “Beyond the Dream” and can still vividly see the image. It was of a baby being held and a gas mask being put over its face while its crying. I can still feel those feelings. We can’t forget how horrible those times were so we can keep the fires of passion alive, like you, to speak out on injustices to make a difference. Yes, I truly am honored to present this duly deserved award to you and truly think highly of you, my friend. 🙂

  5. Congratulations on the awards Pat and thank you so much for thinking of me. I’m very glad we came across one another. And I hope you might expand a little on some of those facts for future posts!

    • You’re welcome, Andrea. I’m happy our paths have crossed, too, and to share your work with my readers. By expanding, I guess you mean the 7 things I listed about myself. You’re right. They would be good writing material — hmmmm. Thank You! 🙂
