Ouch! I Think I Overdid It

Ouch, ouch, ouch! My body aches all over ― everything hurts. I think I overdid it working in the rock gardens for almost 8 hours over 2 back-to-back days. I feel it today, after being on my hands and knees, crawling in and around rocks. The weather is predicted to turn bad this weekend and, before the snow flies, I finally got in some perennials and transplanted at least 100 irises for next spring.

It’s challenging to grow things in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 8,500’ with a shorter growing season and where the nights are cool ― not to mention the critters. If it’s not deer munching above ground, the voles will getcha underneath.  Continue reading

Ahhh Sunshine: Not Rain!

It was so good to wake up to sunshine today, having seen so much rain in Colorado the past week. No longer will we be shedding our clothes for the heat but now we’ll be donning that sweater or heavy jacket.  Continue reading

Reblog: I’m Packing Up My Old Clothes… by Andrea at My Spoken Heart

It’s hard to see the summer go knowing fall and cold, winter nights are just around the corner. But, it’s also a time, even if it’s for a moment, when we reflect on what we did, the people we met and the fun we had — and, oh, those things we wished we had done.

I’d like to share Andrea’s sentiments on the end of summer in her post called, “I’m Packing Up My Old Clothes…” at My Spoken Heart.  Continue reading

Happy ◊ Happy ◊ Happy

Happy, Happy, Happy!” What makes you happy in a given day? I suppose there can be as many answers for that question, as there are people, in all forms and feelings.

Life can be heavy at times, but it’s the light, fun, happy times we remember the most ― the people, places and events that warm our hearts and bring smiles to our faces.  It doesn’t take much and a lot is not required to make you happy. Most of the time, it’s a simple moment during an ordinary event that makes you the happiest.  Continue reading
