Reblogged Post: “I Made It! Camino de Santiago 2013” by Yaz Rooney

Please join me in congratulating Yaz Rooney at “Free Your Mind ¦ An Alternative Look at the World” in completing her pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago. It’s quite a quest as you will see in her introductory post of this journey.

The Camino is something I’ve been drawn to since I first read Shirley MacLaine’s book, “The Camino – A Journey of the Spirit”, over a decade ago. I have a personal friend who is training to be in the best mental, physical and spiritual shape she can be before her scheduled trip on the Camino.

I have another internet friend, Randall St. Germain at “Camino My Way”, who has also completed the pilgrimage, written a book and writes posts about it.

I’m looking forward to reading more stories of Yaz’s experiences, spiritual insights and what she learned along the way. I especially liked when she said, “The camino determines what you will accomplish, based on the human story that lies in your soul.”

Below is her post called “I Made It! Camino de Santiago 2013” reblogged here on my site:  Continue reading

4th of July ― Today We Celebrate!

4th of July fireworks

Many families and friends will gather today in the US for chicken wings, potato salad, playing with the kids or a little golf.

It’s the birthday of America! We barbecue or go to baseball games but most will close the evening on lawn chairs or huddle together on blankets to celebrate by watching fireworks.

Here, in the west, the fireworks’ celebrations have been tamped down because of the fires and dry conditions. But, there will be public celebrations.

Over the months, much has been said in the media, discussed around water coolers and around the world about this country’s government, politics and decisions being made. It hasn’t been favorable and rather troubling.  Continue reading

Squeezed Oranges and More

Yesterday, I was reminded of an analogy Dr. Wayne Dyer spoke of awhile back, when he asked (to paraphrase), “What comes out when you squeeze an orange?” Well, the obvious answer would be orange juice. But, he took it further in asking to take a personal look at ourselves and what goes on in our lives.

What comes out when we’re being squeezed? I think this is what I got hit with yesterday ― the stuff that’s held onto for so long in people’s hearts. It had to come out.

The story of the orange came to me after a series of phone calls. I was excited to chat, as I normally don’t talk on the phone that much ― at least, not this many calls, one right after the other. The energy built and momentum from one call to the next and I didn’t notice it at first.  Continue reading

Small business people on chess board — MSN Clipart

I’m noticing things are different, this time, after I retired in April 2012. It’s no longer an “in-between jobs” mindset. I’m in a good place and more settled and connected than ever. I feel as if my heart and head are coming together with purpose and meaning.  Continue reading
